Ayurveda 30 Day Cleanse | Beyond The Detox

Unveiling the Deeper Layers of Cleansing for Radiant Wellness 🌟

What is cleansing and purification from the Yoga perspective? Much like me explaining breath work is not simply breathing in and out, cleansing is not simply your daily date with a flannel.

There’s more to it. And we get into that in our Ayurveda 30 Day Cleanse programme.

Somewhere in the crevices of your inner world you will know this makes sense. Much as most of us are looking for short form, bullet point, quick win wisdom, there’s always more to it.

The Science of Cleansing: Understanding the Mind-Body Connection

As humans, we are an amazing miracle of nature, with natural wisdom and intelligence built in.

The problem is most of us are bypassing that wisdom and choosing instead to spend our time and energy avoiding the obvious or dealing with it unsuccessfully.

Even when we do get the download that something in life needs to change or shift (cleansed), we usually do it by trying to change other people or attempting to change our outside world somehow.

Again, and we all know this. That doesn’t work!

So why do we have so much difficulty coming to our own sense of truth, clear wisdom? Why do we not trust ourselves and the answers that come from within?

It’s my belief we’ve let our inside worlds, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually accumulate a whole lot of… err waste, toxicity and general debris! That’s why I created the Ayurveda 30 Day Cleanse programme.

Confronting Negative Karma: The Healing Power of Ritual and Regret

Unhelpful thinking, the imprints of our negative actions, the aftermath of unpleasant experiences, conditioned actions, they add up and often, feel impossible to shift.

Then comes the doubt, mistrust, lack of confidence – and we grasp once again outside of ourselves for validation and reason for being.

It’s not there!

When we have accumulated so much toxicity we’ve drowned out or obscured the connection with ourselves the effect is we lose our wisdom, and all our amazing innate human abilities.

I’m talking about the one’s that come pre-set, built in to our natural and miraculous human technology – which include inner joy, contentment, happiness and love.

The way back to our original factory settings, our true Self and the answers to who we are and what we need individually to thrive, can be accessed through the practices of Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda – and cleansing plays a major role.

Our hectic lives, pollution, and not-so-healthy indulgences are of course also part of the problem. They leave us feeling sluggish, fatigued, out-of-sorts and rob us of our energetic vitality.

But what you might not have considered so much, and what the wisdom traditions teach us, is some of the main cause of our unhappiness and difficulties are found in the negative karma we have created in the past through performing harmful actions consciously or unconsciously.

Buddhist Tradition Meets Yogic Wisdom: Vajrasattva Sadhana Unveiled

This past week I’ve been on a meditation retreat working in the Buddhist tradition with a practice called Vajrasattva Sadhana.

By relying upon the Buddha of purification, Vajrasattva, this practice promises to cleanse the mind of delusions, negativity and obstacles.

Within that was the concept of the ‘power of reliance’.  In this tradition that reliance is on the teachings of the Buddha. And during meditation, believing that the buddha Vajrasattva, is seated on a white lotus, upon a moon on top of your head. At his heart is the HUM mantra surrounded by the 100 syllable mantra of Vajrasattva.

There is of course way more to this practice, and I’m happy to share more if you’re interested, but for brevity we are asked to hold the visualisation and receive the purifiying wisdom nectar of Vajrasattva  and compassion of all the Buddhas, while reciting the mantra.

During this ritual there is also some time spent reviewing the harmful physical, verbal, and mental actions we have done to ourselves and others– which let’s face it, we all have. The unkind way we left a conversation, eating that extra slice of pizza, to something with way more implications. They can be both those we remember and those we may not be aware of.

It’s the deep regret for having done these acts and the strong wish to be free from their consequence or suffering results that we position our practice and begin the purification process. This is important for it to have real meaning and ultimately to find the will to avoid causing suffering to ourself and others in the future.

In other words – to not repeat our unhelpful actions and create instead, lasting and enduring change.

Empowering Yourself: Yogic Perspective on ‘Buddha-Like’ Mind

It’s an amazing practice and one that I wanted to share a little of because ultimately what I recognised was we don’t necessarily need to believe in a realised ‘Buddha’ a top our head to bestow us with blessings and purification.

As Yogis the worldview is that through our daily efforts and dedicated spiritual practises we all can access a ‘Buddha-like’ mind. The Buddhi-mind that is clear-seeing and discerning and more proximate to the level of the soul (personal and universal). When we are plugged in and connected to that pure space we get to naturally gift those blessings to ourselves. It’s an overflowing well – limitless and full of possibility. It’s freedom actually!

The practices, the traditions and the teachings are getting us to that space, removing the obstacles to that path. Cleansing is part of that conversation.

Ayurveda 30 Day Cleanse: A Holistic Approach to Radiant Living in 2024

Our upcoming Ayurveda 30 day cleanse program is not simply about regretting all the extra mince pies we ate over Christmas, or dealing with that hangover – although it can be just that! All are welcome.

But it’s also about creating a supportive environment and community where you’re not just detoxing physically but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  It’s about learning to rely on ‘yourself’ to go for refuge and undo what needs to be undone, in order that you can find freedom from ‘suffering, and to not repeat those costly mistakes that may cause you or someone else to suffer in the future.

And sure, you can attempt a cleanse practice on your own, but there’s something magical about having other practitioners by your side, and to be guided with traditional practices that are time-tested and scientific.

So, what’s Involved? Curious about what this guided cleanse entails?

Click here to get the outline, but we’re talking about a holistic approach that goes beyond just what’s on your dinner plate – it’s about creating a lifestyle with practices and protocols that promote lasting well-being.
