# 2 THE YOGA LOCAL Podcast | Can I eat meat and be a yogi?

Does doing Yoga mean I can’t eat meat, eggs or dairy?
5 things that Ayurveda has taught me and guides my choices.
Today we’re taking about two things.
Ahimsa and Veganuary.
Ahimsa is the yoga concept of ‘do no harm’ and something we’re working on this week a part of #takecare month. What that looks like in our home practice is making more use of blocks and straps, working into postures with compassion, not forcing, criticising, judging.
It’s also ‘Go Vegan in January’ month… or Veganuary.
So sit back relax and find out how I’m guided to make choices through the teachings of Ayurveda on this week’s podcast.
# 1 THE YOGA LOCAL Podcast | Sadhana – What You Need is a Plan.

The Yoga Local Podcast | What You Need Is A Plan.
Routine, habits and working in a systematic way to move you towards your goals (spiritual, physical or otherwise) is the topic of this week’s podcast.
And it kind of relates to what’s playing out for me in my yoga business right now. If you go through my archives you’ll notice I was podcasting well before I opened the physical studio space 18 months ago and it got sidelined as other areas of the business naturally took priority.
Honestly, other areas of my life continue to take priority and quite frankly unless I find the space, create the habits and make systematic steps, it’s unlikely that picture will change any time soon.
So, I decided to just start. To just greet the moment. And do something towards making it happen. And hey presto here’s the outcome of that choice.
What you need is a plan!

What did you do with your locked-down morning today?
You know… that part that was your own, where you got to choose? Before the demands of others barged in.
Do you have a systematic plan? Or do you leave it to chance.
Do you choose to mindlessly flick through your phone, or do you choose to get up and mindfully move?
Maybe you think it’s hard to change your habits? You’ve tried before, it failed. It’s impossible! You tell yourself this often enough. Guess what! You’ll be right.
But just maybe you could think differently?

Don’t wait. Create!

Don’t wait for harmony. Create it!
Today I was told that change illuminates character! 🕯
So as we rolled with yet more COVID punches this week, I found myself asking, how are you holding up Josie?
Where’s your optimism at now 🤔? Still ready for this adventure? Can you continue to be disciplined, show up and figure out what’s possible? How long’s it going to be before you want to go hide, cry 😭 for help, stamp your feet, declare it’s not fair!
Ways to Detox with Yoga

You only have one body. This is all you get!
Learn how to enhance your capacity to detox and rejuvenate with yoga.
To be healthy is our natural state and yoga, under the umbrella of its sister science of life, Ayurveda, is part of a whole system of healing.
So you may love working with the poses and using them as a benchmark to some kind of physical prowess, but forget the alignment of your downward dog for a second and instead shift your emphasis on both yoga and meditation as tools to get every aspect of your ‘being’ working in harmony.

Have you experienced the Yoga Gong and Sound class yet? If you haven’t, give it a bash!
It’s clear that introducing a Gong to the studio allows for a brilliantly immersive yoga experience, but what are the actual benefits?
This sound healing practice has different effects depending on the type of gong used. Our studio gong is a Mercury Planetary gong and is said to create strong connective power.
