🔥 When Life Hands You a Torch

The Cold Moon, a New Cycle, and the Birth of FireWoven

by Josie Steedman

There are moments in life when something shifts before anything changes.

A feeling.
A knowing.
A quiet movement inside that says,
You can’t keep doing it the old way.

It’s not loud. It’s not dramatic.
It doesn’t come with fireworks or a strategic business plan.

It comes as a nudge.
A whisper.
A torch in a dark room.

And if you’re anything like me — someone who has always felt deeply but was taught to not trust or value those feelings — that inner torch can be confusing. It doesn’t offer logic. It doesn’t offer spreadsheets. It doesn’t ask for permission.

It simply says,
This way.

Over the past few months, this is exactly what’s been happening inside me.

Not a crisis.
Not a collapse.
Just a very steady, very sacred rearranging.

A sense of completion… and of beginning.

A sense that what I built as Yoga Local — the map, the system, the discipline, the teaching — had prepared me (and you) for something truer, deeper, and more aligned.

A sense that the work I’m meant to do next is not just about teaching practice…

…but about guiding women through life’s transitions using the ancient map of practice.

✨ My birthday confirmed it.

According to the Yantra calendar — a traditional Tantric system that tracks long karmic cycles — I have just stepped out of my long “2 energy” phase and into my final 27+ year arc of “9 energy.”

The 2 energy (my first two cycles) was about emotion, sensitivity, introspection, refinement, clearing, and learning to hold harmony.

It was about learning to feel.
Learning to listen.
Learning to trust what I know rather than what I was told.

The 9 energy is different.

It is the energy of the Spiritualist — the one who serves, leads, inspires, remembers the bigger plan, sees the oneness in things, and uses her fire for healing rather than burnout.

Matched with my Dharma Marga — the 4, The Alchemist — it suddenly all made sense.

The dismantling.
The exhaustion.
The releasing.
The grief.
The clarity.
The timing.

This move isn’t random.
It’s not a branding exercise.
It’s not a pivot because the numbers dipped.

It’s a transition of dharma.

A sacred one.

And the Cold Moon, with its energy of truth-telling and illumination, only amplified the message:

It’s time to simplify, concentrate the fire, and lead from a place of inner authority — not outer expectation.

✨ What’s ending (and why it’s not a loss)

Let’s name the tender thing first:
In-person classes, as they currently exist, are completing.

Not because they weren’t beautiful.
Not because they didn’t matter.
Not because I don’t still love holding space in a room.

But because the container cracked its own shell.

The practice evolved.
I evolved.
You evolved.

And holding this work in two places — online and offline — diluted the potency, the rhythm, the consistency, the magic, and the direction of the journey.

Yoga Local taught practice.

FireWoven teaches becoming.

Yoga Local taught the map.

FireWoven leads you through the transitions where that map is needed most.

I am confident now — in a way I wasn’t earlier in my teaching life — that I can hold, teach, guide, and transform just as deeply (if not more) in an online space.

Not because it’s easier.
But because it’s unified.

It means your life, your practice, and your growth don’t depend on my travel, a studio schedule, or winter roads.
It means your rhythm becomes your rhythm.
It means the Sadhanas become your spine.
It means depth without disruption.

And yes — in-person gatherings will still come.
But they will be offerings, not the backbone.

✨ What’s beginning

In January, we step into a single home, a single membership, a single path:

FireWoven

A woven journey of:

– Moon practices
– Fire practices
– Breathwork
– Meditation
– Sadhanas
– Replays
– Ritual
– Community
– Guidance
– Accountability
– Growth

All in one place.
All aligned.
All simplified.
All intentional.

No more juggling TeamUp, logins, calendars, inbox reminders, and confusion.

Just one fire. One thread. One path.

I will guide you through all the practical steps mid-December — especially around TeamUp billing — so everything is seamless and nobody is left unsure.

For now, I simply want to honour this:

You have all played a role in getting us here.

Every class.
Every breath.
Every question.
Every milestone (yes, including the extraordinary 1,000-class member this month — what a legacy).
Every moment shared in community.
Every season of your life you brought to practice.

None of it is lost.

It’s being woven into the next chapter.

✨ The truth is… this shift isn’t just mine. It’s ours.

Many of you are in your own transitions — menopause, divorce, career endings, identity shifts, empty nests, grief, burnout, awakening.

Life is handing you a torch too.

And this practice — this breath — is the anchor I will keep returning you to, just as I’m returning to it myself.

Because when everything changes…

When the old skin stops fitting…

When the new way hasn’t fully revealed itself yet…

All you can do is breathe.
And follow the thread.

✨ We’re simplifying.

We’re unifying.
We’re going deeper.

This isn’t the end of anything meaningful.
It’s the beginning of everything true.

I’m so grateful you’re here.

More soon…

A Note of Gratitude for Mode Movement

Before I close this chapter, I want to honour something important.

When I stepped away from my own studio earlier this year — exhausted, unsure, and carrying more grief than I admitted at the time — Mode Movement became a safe harbour.

Kitty opened her space (and her heart) to me and this community without hesitation.
For the past six months, her studio has held us while everything quietly realigned behind the scenes.

I’m genuinely grateful for that.
For her generosity.
For her presence.
For the steadiness she offered at a moment when I needed it most.

This shift into FireWoven isn’t about stepping away from Mode — it’s about stepping towards the direction my dharma has been pointing all along.

And I will always hold deep appreciation for this season, this space, and for Kitty’s support in helping us bridge where we were… to where we’re going next. 🥰🙏
