“Release Your Potential: Stop Holding Back”

Right, it’s time for some tough love, my friends. How often do you catch yourself saying, “I’ll start when…”? 

  • “I’ll start when the kids go back to school.” 
  • “I’ll start when work quietens down.” 
  • “I’ll start when I feel more confident.”
  • I’ll start after Christmas/New Year.

 

Here’s the reality: waiting for the “perfect time” is just another way of holding yourself back. And let me tell you, life’s too short to stay stuck on the sidelines. 

This week, as we round off our celebration of breath, space, and connection, I want to challenge you to stop waiting and start living. Because your potential isn’t something you discover later—it’s something you unleash now. 

 

What Does It Mean to Release Your Potential? 

Releasing your potential doesn’t mean becoming someone you’re not. It’s about peeling back the layers of doubt, fear, and old habits that keep you from being the person you already are. 

In yoga, this process often starts with the heart. When we open the chest in poses like camel or dancer, we symbolically (and literally) open ourselves to possibility. It’s an invitation to be bold, to take risks, and to trust that we’re capable of more than we think. 

 

The Role of Fear 

Let’s talk about fear for a minute. Because if you’re holding back, chances are fear is running the show. Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. Fear of the unknown. 

But here’s the thing: fear is just energy. And like all energy, it can be transformed. 

Yoga gives us the tools to face our fears head-on. Through breathwork, movement, and mindfulness, we learn to sit with discomfort rather than running from it. And in that stillness, we realise that fear doesn’t have to control us—it can fuel us.
