🧠 Yoga Works — Here’s the Science to Shut Your Doubts Up (So You Can Go Deeper)

🌬️ Inspired by the Law of Detachment | Day 6 of Your At-Home Retreat

Alright, so today’s law?
It’s the one you secretly hate.

Because if you’re anything like me (read: human), you’re gripping on tight — to your plans, your expectations, your goals, your timelines, your yoga practice looking a certain way, your ex’s bad taste in wallpaper… you name it.

Enter: The Law of Detachment.
Or as I like to call it: The Let-Go-or-Be-Dragged Clause.

Here’s what it says, in yogi speak:
To get what you want, you have to be willing to let go of how and when it shows up.
And yes, that includes your retreat “results.”

💡 Wait… Isn’t That Giving Up?

Nope. Not even close.
Letting go of attachment isn’t the same as letting go of intention.

You still set the course.
But you give up trying to micromanage the universe. You stop strangling your goals with over-efforting and “if I just push harder” energy.

And science is finally starting to back this up.

🧪 Science Backs Off (In a Good Way)

There’s a psychological concept called goal disengagement — the ability to stop over-investing in an unattainable outcome.

Researchers have found that people with high goal adjustability tend to:

  • Have less cortisol (that’s your stress hormone)
  • Report higher levels of emotional wellbeing
  • Recover more quickly after setbacks
  • Experience greater overall life satisfaction
(Carsten Wrosch, Concordia University, if you want to Google it)

In yogic language, that’s the art of non-attachment.
And spoiler: It works.

🧘‍♀️ What It Looks Like in Practice:

  • You still turn up on the mat.
  • You still show up for your breath, your body, your heart.
  • But you release the death grip on what it’s “supposed” to do.
  • You trust the process. Even when it’s slow. Especially when it’s slow.

🎯 Real Talk: Are You Actually Practicing That?

This retreat has given you glimpses, right?

That moment in meditation where you stopped striving and something dropped in.

That Yin pose where you actually let go instead of silently fuming about your hip.

That breathwork session where you felt clear, open, untangled — not from effort, but from surrender.

That’s the work.
That’s the gold.
That’s yoga.

🧭 A Tiny Practice You Can Try Today:

  • Notice where you’re gripping — in your body, your thoughts, your stories.
  • Exhale.
  • Imagine placing that expectation down, like a rock you no longer need to carry.
  • Keep walking. Empty-handed. Free.

💬 What If You Didn’t Have to Control Everything?

I know. Wild idea.
But maybe — just maybe — you don’t have to white-knuckle your way to transformation.

Maybe softness is smarter.
Maybe surrender is stronger.
Maybe trust is the strategy.

Tomorrow, we land this retreat.
And we talk Dharma — why you’re here, what your soul’s really whispering, and how to start living it… from your mat, to your Monday.

And if you’re serious about keeping that journey going?

Stick around for a glimpse of what’s next inside the app — and how you can make this practice a permanent part of your life.

See you then,
